Featured Artist - Nicole Rowley

Hi gang,  Time to get to know another Etsy of the Red River Valley team member!

Hi! My name is Nicole Rowley.

I live in West Fargo and I just opened my shop a month or 2 ago and just started listing about a week ago!

I love making my wreaths and during the holiday's I will be doing swags, lantern toppers, table centerpieces, Christmas tree toppers and anything else I can think of!

My crafting has kept me very busy lately but I am a stay at home mom of 6 kids, 8 cats and a dog!

We spend our summers at the lake which we all love!

You can check out some of Nicole's awesome wreaths in her Etsy Shop!

Featured Artist -

Welcome to our featured artist of this week, Erica of Life Unpolished!  Here are some fun things about Erica:

My name is Erica, I am currently living in Fargo, ND.

I sell a variety of different things in my shop, from decor to laundry detergent. Currently I have bookmarks and a coffee cozy listed.

Crafting is honestly an outlet for a lot of my stress. It's nice to just sit down at my sewing machine or with whatever I get my hands on and just make something from raw materials. My absolute favorite part is the end result, which is almost always something I'm super proud of.

Outside of my Etsy Shop, I play a lot of Facebook games. I frequent garage sales, and I love thrift stores.

If I could have ANY super power in the world, I would definitely fly. So much cheaper than driving a car!

Here are some photos of the fabulous items you can find in Erica's shop!

Featured Artist - Wrightmade

Our featured artist for this post is Boyd of Wrightmade!  Let's get to know a little bit more about him.

My name is Boyd Wright. I live in Grand Forks, ND.

I craft, primarily on a wood-turning lathe, a wide variety of kaleidoscopes, handmade gifts for people of all ages, back scratchers, desk items, pill boxes, bar accessories, cutlery, jewelry, key rings, and more, handcrafted in exotic woods from around the world.

My favorite thing about crafting is the freedom from organizational scheduling.

Since crafting is not a hobby, but a business, my hobbies include genealogy, reading, history.

No real idea what I would do if I had a super power. Cure diseases, I suppose. Not thought about it.

Dog Days of Summer August Team Challenge

August Team Challenge

Welcome to Etsy of the Red River Valleys FIRST team challenge! This is something that I hope will foster team participation as well as being a lot of fun.

To participate:

Enter ONE item from you shop that you feel best represents the theme

Spread the news to other team members so that they can enter the challenge as well!

Promote the items in the challenge by doing things like posting items on twitter or facebook or by creating treasuries featuring the items entered!

You must enter by August 31. To do so, simply go to the Etsy of the RRV team page on Etsy and post your item in the official challenge thread!

At the beginning of September, a poll will be created and posted on the blog.
People (anyone and everyone) will have one week to vote on their favorite item!

The winner will get a button on the sidebar of the blog with a link to their shop.

We will also announce the winner on our Facebook Fan Page and our team Twitter Account!

August Theme
Our theme for August will be Dog Days of Summer. Pick one item from your shop that you feel best represents this theme. It is open to ALL team members. The theme is very subjective – it can be any one item that you feel best fits the theme!

Have Fun, and Happy Creating!

Featured Artist: EtsyRRV Captain

Hi!  Welcome to the EtsyRRV blog.  If this is your first time visiting us, it's good to have you here!  If your coming back, we're glad.  In getting with our featured artist posts, I am posting a few questions about myself, in the hopes that other members of the Etsy of the RRV team will also be featured artists throughout the coming months!

1. What is your name?

My name is Maggie, but it's not short for anything!  When my parents were picking out names, they wrote some for boys and some for girls.  Maggie was a girls name they both liked!  So that's where it came from.

2. Where do you live?

Although I was raised in a small town 100 north east of the FM area, I now live in Moorhead!  I went to University here, and loved it so much I just couldn't leave.

3. What types of items do you sell in your shop?

Well, I have 2 Etsy shops!

M Knits: This is where I sell knitted and crocheted blanket, scarves and other fun handmade knittery.

La Carta Papier: I sell fun cards, paper hearts, paper stars and other fun paper items in this shop!

4. What is your favorite thing about crafting?

My favorite thing about crafting is being able to create unique, one of a kind items for people.  I love that handmade items are better for myself and for the people who buy them!

5. Do you have any hobbies outside your Etsy Shop?

I love to read, watch movies and write!  I am reading a great book right now for my book club called Sharp Objects, by Gillian Flynn.  It's great.

6. Just for fun, if you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?

I would have the power to fly.  I think it would be neat to have a superman ability to just float into the air whenever I wanted and fly to where I wanted to go!
